Bore Size

Professional trumpets are usually medium-large or large bore, giving a bigger, more resonant sound with more air to move — it takes slightly more effort but rewards it with tone that projects instead of thinning out at volume.

Bell Material

Yellow brass is the balanced default; gold brass adds warmth and depth; silver plate brightens the sound and often changes response noticeably. None is objectively better — it's about matching the horn to how you want to sit in an ensemble.

Valve Quality
